The five thousand-year war between the Titans and the Olympians is called the Titanomachy (derived from the Greek Titanomakhia, meaning “Battle of the Titans”). It was a cosmic conflict fought to decide the rulers of the universe, resulting in Zeus and his siblings overthrowing the older generation of gods and confining many of them to Tartarus.
